On-page SEO services for pages that should already be ranking
My on-page SEO services improve the pages you already have so they match what searchers want and what Google can understand: the title, the headings, the content, the internal links and the markup. I start with pages that are close to ranking well, because that is where changes pay off soonest. And since I am also a developer, fixes that live in your theme or templates get done, not just noted.
What’s included
- Search intent check for each target page against the current top results
- Title tags and meta descriptions written for clicks, not just keywords
- Heading structure: one clear H1 and logical H2s that match real questions
- Content optimization: gaps, outdated sections, thin intros and missing answers
- Internal linking with descriptive anchors from relevant pages
- Image alt text, file names, dimensions and sizes
- Keyword cannibalization fixes: merging or retargeting pages that compete
- Schema markup where it fits the page type
- Template-level changes in WordPress, Laravel or custom PHP sites
What on-page SEO services include, and who they are for
On-page SEO is everything on the page itself that helps it rank and get clicked: the words, the structure, the tags and the links to and from it. It is the part of SEO you fully control, which makes it the fastest place to see movement on an existing site.
This service suits businesses that already have service pages, product pages or a blog with some impressions in Search Console but few clicks. It also suits teams that publish regularly but never go back to improve older pages, and agencies that need on-page optimization services for client sites without hiring. It is less useful for a brand-new site with no data yet: there, start with keyword research and mapping so each page has a clear target from day one.
On-page, technical and off-page SEO: where the line sits
On-page SEO covers the content and HTML of individual pages. Technical SEO covers the site as a system: crawling, indexing, speed, redirects and rendering. Off-page SEO covers signals from elsewhere, mainly links and mentions. They overlap at the edges. A slow page is a technical problem that hurts every on-page effort, and a page with no internal links pointing to it is an on-page problem with a technical effect.
If your site has deeper problems, such as pages not being indexed at all, a technical SEO audit should come first. Optimizing copy on a page Google cannot index is wasted effort.
How I optimize a page: intent first, tags second
The most common reason a page underperforms is not a missing keyword. It is a mismatch between the page type and what Google shows for the query. If the top ten results for your target phrase are comparison guides and your page is a sales pitch, no amount of tag tuning will close that gap. So I look at the results first, then decide whether the page needs small edits, a rewrite or a different target.
An illustrative before and after, not a client example: a page titled ‘Services | Company Name’ with the logo as its only H1 becomes ‘Commercial Roof Repair in Leeds | Company Name’, gets a single H1 that says what the business does, an opening paragraph that answers the searcher's main question, and three internal links from related blog posts with descriptive anchors. None of that is clever. It is just rarely done thoroughly.
- Titles front-load the query and give a reason to click, within roughly 60 characters
- Meta descriptions are not a ranking factor, but they shape click-through, so each one is written by hand
- Intros answer the question directly in the first sentence or two
- Internal links come from pages that already earn impressions, using anchors that describe the target
- Outdated facts, dates and screenshots are updated, and thin sections are expanded or removed
Why hire an on-page SEO expert who is also a developer
Many on-page problems are not in the content at all. They are in the template. A theme that wraps the logo in an H1 on every page, a page builder that outputs headings as styled divs, or a product template that repeats the same title pattern across 400 products: fixing these by hand page by page is slow and fragile. Fixing them once in the template is quick if you can read the code.
As an on-page SEO specialist who writes PHP daily, I make those changes directly. For WordPress on-page SEO that usually means configuring Yoast SEO or Rank Math properly and then fixing the places where the theme overrides them. On Laravel, CodeIgniter or core PHP sites I adjust the views and metadata logic, and on WordPress sites with deeper issues I can extend the work into WordPress SEO at theme and plugin level.
Which pages to optimize first
I pick pages from your own Search Console data, not from guesswork. The best candidates usually fall into three groups: pages with plenty of impressions sitting in positions 8 to 20, pages with a click-through rate well below what their position suggests, and pages that drive enquiries or sales but have barely been touched since launch.
Each candidate gets a short note on what to change and why, and we agree the list before I start. You can use my on-page SEO checklist to review pages yourself in the meantime.
How quickly on-page changes work, and what affects the cost
Changes are seen once Google recrawls the page, which for important pages can be days. Ranking movement for pages that already rank on page two or three often appears within four to eight weeks, though it varies with competition and how big the change was. Nobody can guarantee a position, so I report impressions, clicks and average position per page against the baseline instead.
Cost depends on how many pages are in scope, whether pages need light edits or full rewrites, whether template changes are needed, and the platform. After a short call or a written brief, you get a fixed quote for a defined list of pages.
How the work runs
Pull the data
I export queries and pages from Search Console and map which query each page is actually being shown for, which is often not the one it was written for.
Choose and agree the pages
I shortlist pages by opportunity and business value, check each against the live search results and agree the final list with you.
Write the changes
For each page you get the new title, meta description, headings, content edits and internal links in a document you can review before anything goes live.
Implement
I make the edits in your CMS and fix template-level issues in code, then request indexing for the updated URLs in Search Console.
Review after recrawl
After four to eight weeks I compare each page against its baseline and recommend what to adjust or leave alone.

Questions
What does on-page SEO include?
It includes matching the page to search intent, titles and meta descriptions, headings, content quality and freshness, internal links, image alt text and relevant schema. My on-page work also covers template-level fixes, because many on-page issues are repeated across every page by the theme.
How quickly do on-page changes affect rankings?
For pages that already rank on page two or three, movement often shows within four to eight weeks of the change being recrawled. New pages and competitive queries take longer. I treat that range as typical, not a promise.
Will you rewrite my content or only adjust tags?
Whichever the page needs. Some pages only need a better title and two internal links; others need a new intro, missing sections or a full rewrite. For larger rewrites and new pages, see SEO content writing.
Do you work on WordPress, Webflow and custom sites?
Yes. On WordPress, Laravel, CodeIgniter and custom PHP sites I can change the templates as well as the content. On hosted builders such as Webflow or Wix I work through the platform's SEO fields and editor, and scope any theme code changes case by case.
Do meta tags and internal linking still matter?
Yes, though in different ways. The title tag is still a strong relevance signal, while the meta description mainly affects whether people click. Internal links help Google discover pages and understand what they are about, and they pass authority from your stronger pages to weaker ones.
How do you choose which pages to optimize first?
From your Search Console data: pages with many impressions in positions 8 to 20, pages with low click-through for their position, and pages that bring in enquiries. Business value decides the order, not just search volume.
What is keyword cannibalization, and do you fix it?
It is when two or more of your pages compete for the same query, so Google keeps switching between them and neither ranks well. I fix it by merging the pages with a 301 redirect, or by retargeting one page to a different query and adjusting internal links to match.
