Laravel and PHP development
Admin panel development for Laravel and PHP businesses
Admin panel development is most of what I do: the back offices, reporting dashboards and internal tools a business runs on every day. I build them in Laravel around your actual workflow, so the right people see the right data, reports stay fast as records grow, and exports come out ready to file or send.
What’s included
- Role-based access control down to individual actions, with an audit log of who changed what
- Data tables with server-side search, filters, sorting and paging that stay fast on large tables
- CRUD modules with validation, bulk actions and soft deletes where history matters
- A custom admin dashboard with charts and totals calculated in SQL, not in PHP loops
- Excel and CSV imports with row-level validation and error reports, processed in batches
- Excel exports and print-ready PDFs, including statutory documents
- Multi-company or multi-tenant data isolation enforced on every query
- Notifications and alerts for the operations team, by email or messaging bot
- A REST API alongside the panel when a mobile app or another system needs the same data
Admin panel development: what it is and who it is for
An admin panel is the private side of a business application: where staff create orders, approve payments, manage users, check stock and pull reports. Admin panel development means designing those screens, the permissions around them and the database underneath, so the panel matches how your team actually works instead of forcing the team to work around it. Most of my own work is Laravel admin panel development, on new systems and on existing ones.
It is for businesses replacing spreadsheets and email chains with one system, product companies that need a back office behind a customer app or website, and teams whose old admin panel has become slow or risky to change. If you need a full product with public-facing features, sign-up and billing, look at custom web application development instead; the admin panel will be one part of that build.
Custom admin panel development or Filament and Nova?
Laravel has good ready-made admin frameworks. Filament (free and open source, built on Livewire) and Laravel Nova (a paid first-party package) generate standard list, create and edit screens quickly, and for a simple internal CRUD tool they save real time. When one of them fits, I will recommend it.
Custom admin panel development is the better choice when the workflow is the point: multi-step approvals, document numbers that must never repeat, data scoped per company, complex reports, or screens that are not a table and a form. A framework panel can be bent to do these things, but you spend the effort fighting its assumptions, and every major release of the package becomes your upgrade too. My production back offices are custom Laravel with Blade, JavaScript and Bootstrap, and that is where my strongest experience lies.
- Filament or Nova suit standard CRUD, a small team of users and a short timeline.
- Custom Laravel suits complex permissions, unusual workflows, heavy reporting and long-term ownership.
- A mix is often practical: framework screens for simple settings, custom pages for the core workflow.
What makes a Laravel admin panel hard to get right
The screens are the easy part. What causes trouble a year later sits underneath them:
- Permissions that grow. Roles and permissions belong in data (Spatie's laravel-permission package is a common choice) with policies checked on the server for every action, not if-statements scattered through Blade templates.
- Data isolation. In a multi-company system, one missing where clause shows a company another's records. On the export operations ERP I led, a global query scope adds the current company to every query on company-owned data, and checking that new models use it is a standing code-review rule.
- Concurrency. Two staff creating invoices at the same moment must not get the same number. Reading the number series under a row-level lock inside a transaction solves it.
- Reports on growing tables. A dashboard that is quick with 10,000 rows can time out at ten million. The right indexes, aggregates in SQL and, for very large tables, partitioning keep it usable.
- Imports. A large Excel upload should validate every row, report errors by row number and run in queued batches, not time out halfway and leave half the data saved.
- Audit trails. When money or stock changes, you need to know who did it, when, and what the value was before.
Why hire me for admin dashboard development
Back offices are my daily work, not a side line. I was a core developer and team lead on the back office, billing and risk dashboards of a brokerage risk platform serving more than 1,000 trading accounts, including multi-level partner billing, permissions and audit logs. As technical lead on an export ERP for a group of companies, I built the per-company access, document numbering and GST foundations, and its eight statutory shipping documents are generated as PDFs.
You work directly with me, the developer who designs and writes the panel, from the first workflow conversation to deployment. I am based in Ahmedabad, India, and work remotely with clients in different time zones; we agree on update times at the start. Because I also build APIs, the same backend can serve your mobile app later without a rewrite.
Internal tools development: what affects cost and timeline
The main drivers are the number of distinct screens and workflows, how fine-grained the permissions need to be, the reports and documents required (a statutory PDF with an exact layout takes longer than a CSV export), the volume of existing data to import, and integrations with other systems. Using Filament for the simple parts can reduce cost; multi-step approval flows add to it.
A good first step is a list of the roles in your team and the five things each one does most often. From that I can propose a scope, flag what can wait for a second phase, and give you a fixed quote after a short call or written brief.
How the work runs
Map the workflow
We walk through who uses the panel and what they do, step by step, including the awkward cases: cancellations, corrections, approvals. This becomes the screen list and the permission matrix.
Design the data
Tables, relationships, indexes and the rules that must never break (unique numbers, company boundaries, stock that cannot go negative) are settled before any screen is built.
Build in slices
I deliver one working workflow at a time on a staging server, so your team clicks through real screens early, while corrections are still cheap.
Import and test with real data
Existing spreadsheets or old-system data are imported, then reports and exports are checked against figures your team already trusts.
Launch and train
Deployment to your server, user accounts and roles set up, and a short walkthrough for each role. Small adjustments in the first weeks are expected and planned for.

Proof from real projects
What clients say
Jay rebuilt our website and gave us a publishing panel, so our team now adds projects, blog posts and job openings without needing a developer. The site is fast, and he sorted out the technical SEO that had been holding us back. Clear communication and careful work throughout.
Jinap PrajapatiCEO and Founder, CAN Design Studio, IndiaReview on Email Jay built a CRM that brought our leads, trips, travellers and payments into one place, and connected it to a WhatsApp chatbot. Customers get answers from the menu at any hour, and our team can step in and reply from the admin panel whenever a conversation needs a person. The daily reminders keep our follow-ups on track. He understood how a travel agency works and was easy to work with.

Questions
Should I use Filament, Nova or a custom admin panel?
Use Filament or Nova when the panel is mostly standard lists and forms and delivery speed matters most. Choose a custom Laravel admin panel when your workflow, permissions or reports are unusual, or when you want full control over upgrades. I recommend one after seeing the workflow, and a mix is often the most practical answer.
Can different staff see different data?
Yes. Role-based permissions control what each user can do, policies check every action on the server, and company-level isolation keeps each business's records separate.
Can the admin panel power my mobile app?
Yes. The same Laravel backend can expose a versioned REST API with token authentication, so the panel and the app share one database and one set of business rules.
Will reports stay fast as data grows?
That is designed in from the start: indexes for the filters people actually use, totals calculated in SQL, server-side paging and, for very large tables, partitioning. Heavy reports and exports run as queued jobs and notify the user when the file is ready.
Can I export reports to Excel or PDF?
Yes. Excel and CSV exports use Laravel Excel, and print-ready PDFs such as invoices, statements and statutory documents are generated with DomPDF to an agreed layout.
Can you rebuild or extend my old admin panel?
Yes. I start by reading the existing code and database, then decide with you whether to extend it, rebuild it screen by screen while the old one keeps running, or replace it. Keeping your existing data intact is the first constraint either way.
What do you need from me to start?
A list of user roles, the main tasks each one performs, samples of the spreadsheets or documents the panel replaces, and the reports you rely on today. Rough sketches help but are not required.
