Websites and landing pages
Business website development with SEO built in from the start
Business website development, done properly, means a site that loads fast, works on every phone and is easy for search engines to read from the day it goes live. I build business websites with technical SEO built in rather than bolted on afterwards, because fixing structure after launch costs more than getting it right first. You work directly with me, the developer who writes the code and sets up the SEO.
What’s included
- Site structure and page plan based on what your customers actually search for
- Responsive build in WordPress or hand-coded HTML, CSS and PHP
- Technical SEO: titles, meta descriptions, headings, canonical URLs, XML sitemap and robots.txt
- Structured data for your business, services and FAQs in JSON-LD
- Core Web Vitals work: image sizing, modern formats, font loading and script deferral
- Accessible markup: color contrast, keyboard navigation, labelled forms and alt text
- Contact and quote forms that reach your inbox reliably, with spam protection
- Google Analytics 4 and Search Console set up and verified before launch
- 301 redirects from old URLs when the project is a redesign
Business website development for owners who need a site that works
This service is for small and growing businesses that need a website to do real work: bring in enquiries, explain services clearly and show up when local or niche customers search. Typical projects are a five to fifteen page site for a service business, a company site for a manufacturer or consultancy, or a rebuild of an older site that has stopped bringing in leads.
It is not the right fit if you need an online store with a large catalog (that is WooCommerce development), a single page for an ad campaign (that is a landing page), or a web application with user accounts and dashboards. If you are not sure, a short call usually settles it.
What SEO friendly website development actually means
Many sites are sold as "SEO ready" because a plugin is installed. SEO friendly website development goes further. It means the site is built so search engines can crawl, render and understand every page without help, and so visitors stay once they arrive. In practice, I check these things on every build:
- One clear topic per page. Each service gets its own page with its own title, H1 and URL, instead of five services crammed onto one page that ranks for none of them.
- Clean, crawlable HTML. Content is in the HTML, not hidden behind scripts or sliders. Links are real links. There are no leftover noindex tags or staging URLs in the canonical tags, a common launch mistake.
- Speed on a real phone. Images are served at the size they display, in WebP or AVIF, with width and height set so the layout does not jump. Fonts and third-party scripts are loaded so they do not block the page.
- Structured data. Organization or LocalBusiness, Service and FAQ markup in JSON-LD, written to match what is visible on the page and validated before launch.
- Accessibility. Proper heading order, form labels, focus states and contrast. It helps people using assistive technology, and it tends to help search engines read the page too.
Small business website design that answers the customer's questions
Good small business website design is mostly about clarity. A visitor should know within a few seconds what you do, where you work and how to contact you. I plan pages around the questions your customers ask before they buy: what the service includes, how long it takes, what it costs to get started, and why they should pick you. That plan comes from keyword research, so the words on the page are the words people use in search.
Design follows that structure. I keep layouts calm and readable, use your brand colors and photos, and make the phone number and enquiry form easy to reach on mobile. Where a page needs persuasive copy, I can write it or edit what you have. If a designer has already drawn the pages, I build from their files instead: see Figma to WordPress.
Website redesign for small business without losing your rankings
A website redesign for small business owners carries one big risk: traffic that the old site earned disappears because URLs change and nobody redirects them. Before I touch the design, I crawl the existing site, export its pages from Search Console, and list which URLs bring in visits and links. Pages that rank are kept or merged with care, and every old URL that changes gets a 301 redirect to its closest new equivalent.
After launch, I resubmit the sitemap, watch Search Console for crawl errors and 404s, and fix anything that slipped through. For larger moves, such as a change of domain or platform, see SEO website migration. I also keep a website redesign SEO checklist that covers each step.
Why hire a business website developer who also does SEO
Most small businesses hire a designer to build the site and an SEO later to fix it. That second step often means rebuilding templates, renaming URLs and redoing redirects. As a business website developer who also does on-page and technical SEO, I make those decisions once, at the start, when they are cheapest.
You also deal with one person. I write the code, configure the SEO and answer your emails, so nothing gets lost between a sales team and a developer. For a working example of how I build, look at this website: it is my own site, built in Next.js, and it scores 100 in Lighthouse for SEO, accessibility and best practices with a layout shift score of zero. For a client example, see the website and admin panel I built for CAN Design Studio, an Ahmedabad branding agency, in my freelance client work.
WordPress or custom code, and what drives the cost
WordPress is the right choice when your team wants to edit pages and publish posts without a developer. Custom code suits sites that change rarely, need to be very fast, or connect to other systems. I explain the trade-offs in WordPress vs custom website, and I will recommend one based on who maintains the site after launch.
Cost depends on the number of unique page templates, whether copy and photos are ready, how many forms and integrations there are, and whether old content needs to be moved and redirected. After a short call or a written brief, I send a fixed quote that lists each page and feature, with a delivery date.
How the work runs
Discovery and keyword research
We talk through your services, customers and competitors. I research the searches that matter for your business and turn them into a page list.
Sitemap and content plan
You get a simple site map with one purpose and one target search per page. For a redesign, this includes the redirect map from old URLs to new ones.
Design and build on staging
I design the key templates, then build the site on a private staging address that search engines cannot index. You review it on your own devices.
Content, SEO and QA
Content goes in with titles, meta descriptions, alt text and schema. I test forms, speed, mobile layouts and accessibility, and fix what fails.
Launch and monitoring
On launch day I remove staging blocks, apply redirects, verify GA4 and Search Console, and submit the sitemap. I watch indexing and errors in the weeks after.

What clients say
Jay rebuilt our website and gave us a publishing panel, so our team now adds projects, blog posts and job openings without needing a developer. The site is fast, and he sorted out the technical SEO that had been holding us back. Clear communication and careful work throughout.

Questions
How long does business website development take?
A small business site of five to fifteen pages usually takes a few weeks from the agreed plan to launch. The biggest variable is content: sites move fastest when copy and photos are ready. You get a delivery date with the quote, and I tell you early if anything puts it at risk.
Can you guarantee first-page rankings?
No, and no one can honestly guarantee them. I make the site technically sound, fast and well structured, with each page aimed at a real search, which is the foundation rankings are built on. Results then depend on competition, content and links over time.
Will I be able to update the website myself?
Yes. On WordPress, you edit text, images and blog posts in the dashboard, and I set up page layouts so you cannot break the design by accident. On a custom site, content is kept separate from layout, and small edits are quick for me to make.
Will redesigning my website hurt my SEO?
It can, if old URLs are dropped without redirects or ranking content is removed. I map every old URL before the redesign, keep pages that earn traffic, and set up 301 redirects. Short-term movement in rankings after any relaunch is normal, and I monitor Search Console to catch real problems quickly.
Do you write the website content?
I can. I write service pages, about pages and FAQs based on keyword research and interviews with you, or I edit content you already have so it reads well and targets the right searches. For ongoing blog content, see SEO content writing.
Do you provide hosting and a domain?
I recommend hosting that suits the site and help you set it up in your own name, so you always own the account, the domain and the files. I can deploy to shared hosting, cPanel or a VPS. I avoid holding client sites on accounts only I control.
Do you build websites for clients outside India?
Yes. I am based in India and work remotely with clients in different time zones; we agree on update times at the start. Everything runs over email, calls and a shared staging site, so location does not slow the project down. Businesses in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar can also meet me in person: see web developer in Ahmedabad.
