Generative engine optimization services: be findable in AI Overviews, ChatGPT and Perplexity

My generative engine optimization services make your site easy for AI search tools to reach, understand and cite: Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode, ChatGPT search, Perplexity, Copilot and the rest. In practice that means fixing crawler access and rendering, rewriting key pages so they answer questions clearly, strengthening the signals that tell these systems who you are, and measuring what can actually be measured. I am measured about what is known, because much of what is sold under this label is guesswork.

What’s included

  • An AI search optimization audit: robots.txt, CDN and firewall rules, rendering and indexing, checked for each major AI search crawler
  • A review of which of your pages and competitors' pages are cited for your important questions, in each AI tool
  • Answer-first rewrites of key service, product and help pages, with clear headings and self-contained passages
  • Entity and brand consistency: Organization schema, sameAs profiles, Business Profile and the facts other sites repeat about you
  • Original material worth citing: data, worked examples, comparisons and expert explanations only you can give
  • A crawler policy you choose deliberately: which bots to allow for search, and which to block for model training
  • Tracking through Search Console's Generative AI performance report, Bing Webmaster Tools and referral traffic in GA4
  • An optional llms.txt file, with a clear explanation of what it does and does not do

What generative engine optimization services are, and who they suit

Generative engine optimization (GEO), also sold as answer engine optimization services or AI search optimization, is the work of making your content show up, accurately, inside answers written by AI systems. The goal is to be one of the sources they cite and link to, and to make sure what they say about your business is correct.

It is not a separate discipline from SEO. Google says its AI features are rooted in its core Search ranking and quality systems, and ChatGPT search, Perplexity and Copilot all retrieve pages from a search index before writing an answer. So most of the work is technical SEO and content done well, aimed at question-shaped searches. It suits businesses whose buyers research by asking questions: B2B services, SaaS, professional services, health and finance providers, and anyone whose brand name is already being searched in AI tools. If your site has basic indexing problems, fix those first with a technical SEO audit.

What is actually known about AI Overview SEO and ChatGPT visibility

There is solid public information, and there is a lot of speculation. Here is what the platforms themselves have stated, as of October 2026.

  • Google: to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode, a page must be indexed and eligible to show with a snippet. Google's May 2026 guide says no special files, markup or content chunking are needed, and that chasing inauthentic mentions is not as helpful as it looks.
  • Google: Search Console now has a Generative AI performance report, and a setting (on by default) that controls whether your site is included in Search generative AI features. I check both.
  • OpenAI: OAI-SearchBot decides which sites can appear in ChatGPT search answers. GPTBot is a different crawler used for model training, so you can block training and still allow search.
  • Microsoft: Bing Webmaster Tools has an AI Performance report, in preview since early 2026, showing how often your pages are cited in Copilot and Bing's AI answers.
  • Perplexity and Anthropic publish their own crawler names, and both distinguish search retrieval from other uses.

The technical side: AI crawlers, rendering and llms.txt

The most common reason a site never appears in AI answers is simple: the AI crawlers cannot fetch it. Security settings get changed for unrelated reasons, and suddenly OAI-SearchBot, PerplexityBot or Bingbot receive a challenge page or a 403. Cloudflare's bot and AI crawler controls, WAF rules from a hosting provider, and blanket robots.txt blocks copied from a blog post are the usual culprits. I test each crawler's access from outside your network and read your server logs to see who is really visiting.

Rendering is the second issue. Several AI crawlers fetch raw HTML and do not run JavaScript the way Googlebot does, so a page whose text only appears after a React bundle loads can be invisible to them. Server-side rendering or static generation fixes that, and I can implement it rather than just recommend it.

Then there is llms.txt, a proposed plain-text file listing your important pages for language models. Google has said plainly that Google Search does not use it, and that it will not help or hurt your rankings. Some other tools may read it. It costs little to add and maintain, so I will create one if you want it, but I will not present it as a ranking lever.

SEO for ChatGPT, Perplexity and AI Overviews: the content side

AI answers quote passages, so pages need passages worth quoting. I restructure important pages so each section opens with a direct answer to the question in its heading, followed by the detail, evidence and caveats. That is good writing for people anyway, which is the point: Google's guidance is to write for readers, not to slice content into fragments for machines.

The bigger lever is originality. AI systems have read the generic version of your topic many times over. What earns citations is information they cannot get elsewhere: your own data, real pricing logic, worked examples from your projects, clear comparisons, and an author with visible experience. My SEO content writing work and the guide on how to get cited in AI Overviews go further into this.

Entity signals matter too. Your name, address, founders, products and profiles should be consistent across your site, Google Business Profile, LinkedIn, directories and press coverage, with Organization schema markup tying them together. Markup is not required for AI features, but consistent facts everywhere make it harder for any system to get you wrong.

What I will not promise, and why hire me for geo seo

No one can guarantee that ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity will mention your business. Answers vary by user, location, phrasing and day, and the systems change often. Visibility tools that report a single AI visibility score are sampling a set of prompts; useful for trends, not a precise measurement. Google's own guide warns against tools that claim access to internal Google metrics.

What I offer instead is the work with known value, done by someone who can change the code: crawler access, rendering, site structure, schema and content. I am a senior software engineer and SEO based in Ahmedabad, India, and you deal directly with me. I work remotely with clients in different time zones and we agree on update times at the start. Many clients asking about geo seo turn out to need ordinary technical fixes first, and I will say so if that is the case.

The cost of generative engine optimization services depends on the size of the site, how many pages need rewriting, whether rendering changes are needed, and whether you want ongoing monitoring. After a short call or written brief I send a fixed quote.

How the work runs

  1. Baseline

I record how AI tools currently answer your important questions, who they cite, and what they say about your brand, along with your current search data.

  2. Access and rendering audit

I check robots.txt, CDN and firewall rules, server logs and raw HTML output for each major search and AI crawler, and list what blocks them.

  3. Fix the foundations

I fix crawler access, rendering, indexing and structured data, and set the crawler policy you have chosen for training bots.

  4. Content and entity work

I rewrite priority pages answer-first, add original material with you, and align your business facts across your site and main profiles.

  5. Measure and adjust

Monthly I review Search Console, Bing's AI Performance report, AI referral traffic in GA4 and a fixed prompt set, then adjust the plan.

Questions

  • What is the difference between GEO, AEO and SEO?

They overlap almost entirely. SEO earns rankings in search results, answer engine optimization aims at direct answers such as featured snippets and voice results, and generative engine optimization aims at citations inside AI-written answers. All three depend on crawlable, indexed, useful pages, so I treat GEO and AEO as an extension of SEO, not a replacement.

  • Can you guarantee my business gets mentioned by ChatGPT?

No, and no one honestly can. AI answers change with the wording of the question, the user and the date, and the platforms do not let anyone buy or force a citation in organic answers. I can remove the obstacles and improve your chances, and track the trend over time.

  • Do I need an llms.txt file?

It is optional. Google has said Google Search does not use llms.txt and that it neither helps nor hurts rankings, and other platforms have not committed to using it either. It is cheap to add, so I will create one if you like, but it is not where results come from.

  • Should I block or allow AI crawlers?

It depends on what you want, and the crawlers are separate, so you can choose per purpose. Many businesses allow search crawlers such as OAI-SearchBot and PerplexityBot so they can be cited, and block training crawlers such as GPTBot. Blocking Google-Extended affects Gemini training and grounding, not normal Google Search or AI Overviews.

  • Does traditional SEO still matter if people use AI search?

Yes. Google's AI features are built on its core ranking systems, and other AI search tools retrieve pages from search indexes before answering. A page that cannot rank or be crawled has little chance of being cited.

  • How do you measure AI visibility?

With the data the platforms provide: Search Console's Generative AI performance report, Bing Webmaster Tools' AI Performance report and AI referral traffic in Google Analytics. I add a fixed set of test prompts checked monthly, treated as a trend rather than an exact score.

  • Does schema markup help with AI Overviews?

Not directly: Google says structured data is not required for its generative AI features and there is no special markup for them. Accurate schema still helps search engines understand your business and products and keeps rich results eligible, so it is worth having for those reasons.
