SEO and content

Freelance SEO consultant who also writes the code

I am a freelance SEO consultant and a senior PHP and Laravel engineer based in Ahmedabad, India. Most SEO work stalls at the handover between the person who writes the report and the developer who has to act on it, and I do both jobs, so the fixes actually reach your live site. I work with business owners, startups and agencies in India, the US, the UK, Australia and the UAE.

What a freelance SEO consultant does, and who this is for

A freelance SEO consultant works out why your pages are not being found, chosen or clicked in search, decides what to change first, and makes sure those changes happen. In my case that last part is literal: I edit the templates, write the redirects and publish the content myself, or I brief your developer in the detail they need.

I work as a freelance SEO consultant in India with clients across India and overseas. The people I help most are usually in one of these situations:

  • A business website that looks fine but brings in few enquiries from Google
  • A startup or SaaS team with no in-house SEO and a developer queue that is always full
  • A company about to redesign or replatform, and worried about losing its rankings
  • An agency that needs a technical SEO freelancer for client sites it cannot staff
  • Owners who have paid for an audit before and still have a list of unfixed issues

Who this is not for

If you want guaranteed first-page rankings in 30 days, bulk link packages or hundreds of unedited AI articles, I am the wrong person. Those shortcuts tend to break against Google's spam policies, and the clean-up costs more than doing it properly the first time.

Very large sites that need a link-building team, digital PR and a dozen writers every month are also better served by an agency. I am one person, and I would rather tell you that on the first call than discover it in month three.

The gap between an SEO report and a fixed website

The usual story goes like this: an agency sends a 90-page audit, the developer says half of it cannot be done in the current theme, nobody owns the rest, and six months later the same issues are still in Search Console. The problem was never the advice. It was that nobody on the project could turn it into code.

Because I write PHP every day, I can trace a symptom in Search Console back to the line that causes it. These are the kinds of issues I find and fix:

  • A noindex tag carried over from staging to the live site after a launch
  • Every page canonicalized to the homepage by a misconfigured SEO plugin or layout file
  • Filter and sort URLs creating thousands of thin pages stuck in ‘Crawled, currently not indexed’
  • Navigation built with click handlers instead of real links, so Google cannot follow it
  • Slow Interaction to Next Paint (INP) caused by chat widgets and tag manager scripts
  • Redirect chains and 404s left behind by an old redesign, wasting links you already earned

Why hire a developer as your SEO consultant

What you get is a freelance web developer and SEO expert in India whom clients and overseas agencies work with directly. There is no account manager between us: you talk to the engineer who reads your code, runs the crawl and makes the change.

If you are a local business looking for an SEO freelancer in Ahmedabad, we can also meet in person, and the web developer in Ahmedabad page covers the build side of local work. For everyone else, I work remotely with clients in different time zones, and we agree on update times at the start. Any freelance SEO expert in India or abroad should be able to show how they build, so judge my work directly: this website is built in Next.js and scores 100 in Lighthouse for SEO, accessibility and best practices, with a layout shift (CLS) of 0. My engineering work on production systems such as a Laravel brokerage back office is in the portfolio too.

SEO services I offer

Each service has its own page with the scope, process and FAQs. Most projects combine two or three of them.

How long SEO takes, and what affects the cost

Technical fixes such as removing a stray noindex or repairing canonicals can show up within days to a few weeks, once Google recrawls the pages. On-page changes to pages that already rank on page two or three often move within one to three months. New content on a young domain usually needs six to twelve months to build steady traffic, and some competitive terms take longer than that. No one can honestly guarantee first-page rankings, because Google decides, and your competitors are working too.

Cost depends on the size of the site, the platform, how much I implement versus recommend, how much content is involved and how competitive your market is. I do not publish rates. After a short call or a written brief I send a fixed quote for a defined scope, or a monthly arrangement if you need ongoing work. If you are comparing consultants, these questions to ask an SEO consultant are worth putting to me as well.

How the work runs

  1. Short call or written brief

You tell me about the business, the markets you serve, what success looks like and what has been tried before. If SEO is not your real bottleneck, I say so.

  2. Baseline review

With read access to Search Console and GA4, I crawl the site and look at what Google already sees: indexed pages, queries, click-through rates and obvious technical faults.

  3. Plan and fixed quote

You get a short plan ranked by likely impact and effort, with what I will do, what your team will do and a fixed price for the first phase.

  4. Implementation

I ship the code changes, redirects, schema and content on a staging copy or directly with your approval, and log every change so nothing is a mystery later.

  5. Measure and adjust

I compare Search Console data against the baseline each month, report what moved and what did not, and adjust the next set of priorities.

Questions

  • Why hire a freelance SEO consultant instead of an agency?

You work directly with the person doing the work, and that person can also change the code. Agencies suit companies that need link building, PR and many writers at once. I compare the two honestly in freelancer vs agency.

  • Does it make sense to hire an SEO expert in India for a US, UK or Australian website?

Yes, if the person understands your market and communicates clearly. SEO is done in Search Console, the CMS and the code, none of which depends on location. I write in American or British English as your audience needs, and we agree on update times at the start.

  • Can you implement the fixes yourself, or only recommend them?

I implement them. I work in WordPress, Laravel, core PHP, CodeIgniter and Next.js, so template changes, redirects, schema and speed fixes are part of the job. If you have your own developer, I write tickets precise enough to act on.

  • How long before I see results from SEO?

Technical fixes can register within weeks, on-page improvements usually take one to three months, and new content on a new site often takes six to twelve months. I show progress with Search Console impressions and clicks along the way, so you are not waiting blind.

  • Do you guarantee rankings?

No, and you should be wary of anyone who does. Google's algorithm and your competitors are outside anyone's control. What I commit to is a clear scope, honest reporting and work that follows Google's own guidelines.

  • What access do you need to get started?

Read access to Google Search Console and GA4 is enough for the first review. For implementation I need CMS or repository access, and sometimes hosting or DNS access for redirects and verification. I use my own user account wherever the platform allows it, so access is easy to remove later.

  • Do you work with agencies as a technical SEO freelancer?

Yes. Agencies bring me in for technical audits, migrations and developer-level fixes on client sites, under their brand if needed. The arrangement is described on the white-label development page.

  • Are you also an SEO consultant in Ahmedabad for local businesses?

Yes, I am based in Ahmedabad and can meet local clients in person. For businesses that depend on nearby customers, the work usually centers on local SEO, Google Business Profile and fast, clear service pages.
